Question

Just seeking some advice re this mission.  Am I right in assuming “over the water” will put it in the Moreton Bay Marine Park and therefore I need to apply the Qld National parks for a permit?  Do I need to add a copy of the application in the mission plan response to CASA as part of my ReOC application or do start mention it as part of my planning?

Answer

Great Question. ERSA is silent on any special procedures for Moreton island and surrounds. Ok2Fly does suggest contacting Qld Parks for information and that would be my council on the topic. I would seek the written requirements and not just the advice of a parks person. See below on how to apply for a permit and more about landing aircraft.

Question

Im currently doing my ReOc with Ace Aviation and trying to get some clarification on my Micro RPA. I am currently doing a number of Roof reports at Sydney Uni and a number of buildings are in the Flight path for Sydney Airport. Can I use my Micro RPA in this space. I will be flying at no more than 30m high, I have spoken with CASA and they were not sure if I could or if I couldnt. (I was a little surprised by this answer) However I have looked on line and also on OK 2 Fly but nothing really tells me about the Micro RPA and if I can or cant fly. I have my RePl and trying to finish my ReOc but we are flat stick at the moment and wont complete it for a few weeks.

Answer

Our recommendation would be to apply to CASA on a Form 101-09.
I realise that this does not fit in with the urgency depicted in the question from your client, but it would be the only safe path to compliance, even if it led to a re-think of the mission e.g., the use of a larger RPA on a tether.

Question

I current have my RePL licence but not 100% sure what I can do with it.
Ace Student

Answer

With an RePL, you are able to be employed as a remote pilot for an individual or a business/organisation thatholds a ReOC. You can also apply for your own ReOC.

Question

So I have been looking for a while but not sure how the whole process works. Is there anything I need to do before hand?
Ace Student

Answer

Before you can get an RePL licence, you must apply for an aviation reference number (ARN). This can be done through the myCASA online portal. Once you’ve completed this, you are now ready to start your course. We offer courses for everyone including beginers all the way to experts.
