Beyond and extended visual line-of-sight training for commercial drone operators. ACE Aviation guides you through the CASA approval pathway — from safety case to signed operations manual.
Beyond Visual Line of Sight
BVLOS removes the visual-sighting requirement entirely — the pilot flies the aircraft beyond where they can see it with the naked eye. Operations rely on technology (GPS, detect-and-avoid systems, telemetry) and robust procedures approved by CASA under a ReOC.
Ideal for linear infrastructure, large-area surveys, emergency response, and logistics — work that requires covering ground far beyond standard VLOS limits.
Extended Visual Line of Sight
EVLOS extends visual range using trained observers positioned along the flight path. Each observer maintains sight of the aircraft and relays information to the pilot using defined communications protocols — extending effective range while maintaining visual awareness.
A stepping stone to full BVLOS, EVLOS is often faster to approve and is well-suited to survey and inspection corridors where observers can be positioned strategically.
Advanced approvals open contracts and operations that standard line-of-sight operators simply cannot bid on.
Powerlines, pipelines, rail corridors — BVLOS lets you cover kilometres of linear assets in a single flight.
Agricultural, environmental and topographic surveys that exceed the range of standard VLOS operations.
Government tenders, emergency response, search and rescue, and logistics trials requiring advanced approval.
ACE Aviation has supported commercial operators through complex CASA approval pathways for over a decade. Our BVLOS and EVLOS training and consultation covers the full spectrum — from understanding the framework to submitting a compliant application.
We help you build the documentation, procedures, and capability needed for a successful CASA approval — and support your team through the operational phase.
CASA approval required
Both BVLOS and EVLOS operations are outside CASA's standard operating conditions. Approval is typically granted under a Remote Operator's Certificate (ReOC) with supporting safety-case documentation. ACE can help with both — contact us to discuss your specific operation.
Talk to our team about your BVLOS or EVLOS operation. We'll assess your situation and map out the fastest path to a CASA approval.
