The pathway
Your pathway to becoming a certified remote pilot — four structured steps from first login to a nationally recognised qualification.
Step 1
Students begin their journey through the ACE Aviation online learning platform. After enrolment, students receive access to their personalised student portal containing:
The online learning component provides flexibility, allowing students to complete their studies around school, university, employment and other commitments — with structured trainer support throughout the theory component.
Step 2
The Certificate III pathway incorporates the knowledge and practical requirements associated with CASA Remote Pilot Licence training. Students complete:
Practical training is conducted face-to-face with experienced ACE Aviation instructors. Students who successfully complete the required assessments will achieve their CASA recognised Remote Pilot Licence (RePL).
Step 3
As part of the aviation pathway, students complete aviation communication training, including the operation of aeronautical radio communications.
This develops the aviation communication skills required for professional RPAS operations. The AVI30419 qualification includes aviation radio as an available elective unit.
Step 4
After completing RePL training, students complete the remaining Certificate III Aviation requirements. The gap training recognises the knowledge and skills already developed through CASA RPAS training and completes the additional competency requirements for the nationally recognised qualification.
The AVI30419 Certificate III in Aviation requires a minimum of 14 units of competency — 9 core units plus general, specialist and operation-type electives.
